Secular Mental Health Support Group

Sat, Nov 14

It can be difficult to find a support group in Lubbock that is not faith based. Many issues such as death, illness, depression and addiction are processed differently by people who are nonreligious or from other minority faiths. This group is a general mental health support group open to the public.

About the event

This support group will meet each month on the 2nd Saturday. We will have a topic in mind to discuss  to help guide conversation, but you are free to bring up any subject you are having difficulty with and talking through it with the group. This is a safe space for anyone who would like support from a group that is secular and inclusive in nature and does not rely on faith based practices. All people from differing faiths are welcome to join in, but with the understanding that our group is not focused on using faith but rather on evidence based practices.

Any person who does not respect the secular and inclusive nature of this group will be reminded to do so, and if it continues they may be asked to find another support group.

For now, the group will be meeting virtually, and we will continually reasses the covid-19 situation and once we feel there is not a significant risk to our members we will start to have in person meetings.
